“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

The “testimony” (evidence, profession) of Jesus is the “spirit” (vital principle, motivating force, intent) of prophecy.  Folks the main overriding goal of prophecy is not to reveal future events.  It is to reveal Christ.

This same truth is emphasized in Rev 1:1 when John gives his book the title “The Revelation of Jesus Christ”.  In other words, this book is the uncovering, or revealing of Jesus Christ.   Not only is the uncovering of Christ the core purpose behind the book of Revelation, baut also every prophecy found in the Bible. As verse 19:10 states, “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit”
