Michael Wyschogrod is not only a leading Jewish thinker, but has engaged with and substantially influenced the theology of Messianic Jews. His studies on the Covenant and Election of Israel have led him also – initially from an adversarial position in “Jews and Jewish Christianity” but later more sympathetically in “Letter to a friend” – to advocate continuing Torah-observance for Messianic Jews that has influenced at least one stream of the Messianic movement. I particularly appreciate his openness to engage with Messianic Jews, and his appreciation of the Theology of Karl Barth for Jewish thought.
