20 October 1822 Dutch poet Isaac da Costa declares faith in Yeshua #otdimjh

On This Day In Messianic Jewish History

On 20th October 1822 Isaac da Costa, his wife Hannah Belmonte (from a famous related Marrano family) and his friend Abraham Capadose were baptised.

Da Costa came from a distiguished Sephardi family, was related to Uriel Acosta (yes, residents of the MRC!) and economist David Ricardo. He was a student of the great Dutch poet Bilderdijk, who he succeeded as Holland’s formost poet. He published poetry, history and many other articles, always affirming his Jewish identity and faith in the Messiah Yeshua.
