I know the power of life and death are held in the tongue. That we are to be careful with what we speak. Yet there are times and I am guilty of this too, but I think we get so focused on a word or two that we miss the message because we become critiques passing judgment before we even see the whole picture. The years I spent working in education and with children one thing I learned is when trying to correct someone verbally you don’t just tell them they are wrong. If you shut them down they will shut you out. You first point out the good they have done, then work your way to the area where there is an error.
