Surprisingly, it’s fairly difficult to find a clear, chronological accounting of Bible software development. Wikipedia, of course, has some of the major applications organized by operating system, but it doesn’t include release dates or offer much commentary on how they fit together.

So this post (and the accompanying infographic) is my attempt at a preliminary accounting for some of the waves of of Bible software development and the major applications and websites in each wave. It’s by no means exhaustive, and I’d love to hear any major movements or applications you think should be included.
