Vol 5: (291)
- Who will appear at the last judgment?
All men and at least the fallen angels. The former is denied by consistent chiliasts, for those who have already ruled for 1,000 years with the Lord in glory can certainly not come into judgment again. There are those who only have the inhabitants of Sheol summoned at the judgement, namely, those whose destiny is first decided in Sheol, while they also have believers and unbelievers, who have heard the gospel here, judged already at death.
Appeal for this view is made to John 3:18; 5:24; 12:47. But in these passages we find nothing more than that the relationship one has to the Savior already virtually decides his destiny. Their unbelief already establishes that perdition awaits them. But this is no way excludes the judgment itself, which takes note of these things and renders their judicial consequence… more at the source.
