When Water is Not Enough


A Necessary Pain

“And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.” John 2:3

These modest words led me to Jesus’ feet for meaning. There was lack, an acknowledgment of lack, and awareness brought to Jesus. In this case, the item desired is wine in the middle of a wedding, for some, it may be another legitimate need such as food, clothing, shelter, or companionship. Sometimes I believe the Lord waits for us to realize that we are lacking a thing and He is the only option to provide it. We become acclimated with the presenting problem, the people want and do not have. But why? If Jesus was there, why would God allow the people to want in the first place?
