God warned Cain that ‘sin is crouching at the door, and its desire is for you,’ which appears to refer to a wild beast and its prey. (Gen. 4:7) If animals only age vegetation before the flood, why would that language be used?
First, one interpretation principle is never to expect more out of a book than its intended purpose. The was not written to be a science textbook, a history book, a book on geography, yet it touches on these subjects in passing along the message that Jehovah God wants mankind to receive. In Genesis, there are some verses that reveal facts or historical information that might seem oddly out of place in their historical setting.
