And well I know that the more the soul sees of God, the more she desires him by grace; but when we do not see him so, then we feel need and reason to pray, because we are failing and unfit for Jesus. For when a soul is tempted, troubled and left to herself in her unrest, that is the time for her to pray and to make herself supple and obedient to God.
