“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15:1-2
According to the scripture above It is the responsibility of the Gardener who in this case is God to maintain(tend) the vine. He sees to it that the vine bears all the living fruit He intends. And Jesus here, is seen as the source of life and fruitfulness.
Truth is, you can’t be connected to the True Vine(Jesus) and not bear much fruit. If a branch is connected to the vine and does not bear fruit then it is not a true branch.
