Deuteronomy 23 — Dust


Bastard occurs twice in the KJV, Here in verse 3 (2 English) and in Zechariah 9 verse 6 where I rendered it as stranger. Mamzer ממזר appears to be derived from זור stranger, estrange. NIV avoids the word in both places, choosing a circumlocution. JB explains that it ‘means’ a child born of mixed parentage.…
