1 I waited patiently for the Lord,

out of the muddy clay,

Sometimes life just flat out hurts…sometimes we find ourselves feeling like we are in a pit, and not just any kind of pit but a “desolate” pit. The Amplified translation calls it a horrible pit of tumult and destruction.
We don’t know what type pit David was in but we do know that it was a place of desolation. Whatever it was, this pit caused him misery and sorrow, a place that he described as muddy clay…
