The Reason for the Sabbath
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made,” Genesis 2:2.
There are probably some reading this who know a little bit about burning the candle at both ends. Many of us live lives of constant busyness with little or no concept of downtime or rest factored in. This is not God’s plan at all, and the way we miss out on this is so sad.
Even today the idea of the Sabbath gets wrapped up in a lot of legalistic and ritualistic baggage that destroys the reason God created a day of rest for His creation; in the beginning, He showed us that to work six days and rest on one is honorable and pleasing to God. God certainly does…
