In 1 Timothy 1:12-13a Paul explains why he was trusted with the gospel. “I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent.” Paul was entrusted because Jesus enabled him to fulfill the ministry of sharing the gospel with the world. Paul was grateful for that strength and assignment. Faithfulness is what made Paul ready to truly serve in this capacity. It wasn’t his history as that was filled with all sorts of things that would disqualify him based on the worlds standards.
