In Hebrews 12:17-22a we discover the outcome of Esau’s willingness to sell his birthright – his attempt to inherit the blessing that would have been his was lost. There was nothing he could do but cry. “For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.” God loves us and even so, He had rules in the days of old that prohibited people from coming too close to His mountain Sinai. The instructions were strong and very clear. If you ignore them, the outcome is severe and life ending.
