They Seek the Life of the Upright

Proverbs 29:10-11 ESV

“Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless
and seek the life of the upright.
A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back.”

Seeking someone’s life doesn’t necessarily mean desiring the literal death of someone. Our lives can be destroyed in so many different ways. One of those ways is if we are convinced that we need to compromise our faith with the world and with the flesh and to back down from sharing the truth of the gospel so as to make it more appealing and acceptable to the world.

For, those who hate the godly and the righteous are not just looking to putting an end to our physical lives, but they are looking to putting an end to our witness for Jesus Christ and for his gospel message (the whole counsel of God). So, they will try…
